Do you have low to moderate income making $52,427 per year or less? If so you may be able to get free help filing your taxes with the help of two free programs, VITA – Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and AARP Tax-Aide. These programs have trained volunteers which can assist in completing and filing your basic tax return, including claiming the EITC – Earned Income Tax Credit if you are eligible. Use the IRS Free Tax Preparation Locator and the AARP Tax-Aide Locator or call at 2-1-1 beginning January 30th, 2014 to find your free local tax sites. The IRS will begin accepting and filing tax forms January 20th, 2015.
